2018 Round up? Nope...
You may have noticed that there has been a lack of posts and a lack of art up here recently, and for the first time in years, I have not put a yearly round up highlighting my activity. That's because 2018 is a year I'd like to forget.
I try to stay positive and am generally a very upbeat kind of guy, but 2018 had a lot of negative things hit me all at once (financial, health and a foggy malaise) and I found it tough to deal for a while. This affected my ability to draw and be as creative as I would have liked.
However... I'm happy to report, that 2019 IS HERE!
With it comes a clean bill of health, and more time at the drawing board. I will have a number of new releases this year.. RAID 2, Auroraman, and the Organ Grinder are on the plate so far!
If you are so inclined, please follow long on my Instagram where I post more images on the regular...I'm at : @gibson_quarter

For now, here is an uncolored Venom that should have been posted up he while ago! ;-)

RAID 2 ...coming soon.
I've been working on the next installment of QPQ for RAID 2.
This time we flesh out a bit of the sci-fi universe that our hero lives in. It is once again written by my fellow RAID'er , Anthony Falcone
Lots more details soon, but here is a quick sneak peek!

2017 Round up!
Another year, another 'round up' to keep me organized!
2017 saw me contribute to 3 Comics: Auroraman #1 and the Auroraman 'Summer Chill' special. I also had the pleasure of working with Dead Canary comics again for their 'Adventures in Science"
Is Raid: One a comic or and art book? I'm going with graphic novel/art book just based on the different size and page length. I had a few pages in here that turned out great thanks to Ramon Perez's sweet inks.
1 art book- Calgary Expo again this year.. and one new Flash print.
Lastly, my graphic novel - Organ Grinder arrived...very happy to see this collected in 2017.
This is normally the part where I'd throw in a nice pic of the books, but I only have copies of Raid:one and the OG trade. The other books never made it to me, so I've never seen the printed versions of any of them. Hopefully this year I'll have better luck getting some copies of the books I've done.
enough whining...here's a page of Moses escaping the demon cowboys instead.
Here's to a great and productive 2018!

Adventures in Science #1
The good folks at Dead Canary Comics were kind enough to have me back to do some pages on their new book: Adventures in science, set to be released in early November 2017!
The 'official' word on this project is as follows:
ADVENTURES
IN SCIENCE! is a neon-soaked, darkly comic, technicolor graphic
anthology daring to tell the fates of imagined futures!
Dead Canary Comics have assembled a crack team of artistic architects to build worlds beyond imagining! These pioneering pencil prodigals have bled blood to bring you nightmare visions of a futuristic prison system, the next stage in warfare, the humdrum life of a single-women, and everything in between!
Each story is a self-contained 'what if', a pulpy adventuristic delight of scientific dreaming, a sideways glance at "what could be". Some stories are funny, some are serious, some are deep... all are guaranteed to entertain
These tales have been lovingly curated and compiled to make a fantastical, mind-blowing graphic novel by the team that brought you The Fitzroy Comic, Reddin, Last Driver and The Frogman Trilogy.
Matt Fitch wrote the story I drew, and here is a sneak peek:

Pod Cast interview on Speech bubble
Here is one of the most in depth interviews I've done in a long time. If you want to hear me talk about, RAID studio, Frank Quitely, beers and X-men, Undertow and many other topics...check this out!
Today Aaron Broverman talks with comic artist Gibson Quarter of R.A.I.D. Studio. The co-creator of The Organ Grinder is a Belleville, Ontario native, and his deepest regret is selling all his early X-Men comics... for beer money

Organ Grinder trade paperback...coming soon!
The Organ Grinder story that I do with the 7th wave folks for the Undertow comics is getting its own trade paperback this year. It will collect the first 5 issues (maybe 6!) and also include a new 16 page story featuring Jeremiah and Moses, his faithful chain smoking monkey partner.
More details in the month ahead, but for now...here is a quick look

Upcoming work sci-fi comic
I'm currently finishing a preview for a 3 issue sci-fi comic planned for late 2017.
Its written by Anthony Falcone (Northguard from Chapterhouse comics) and more about him can be found at his website
Anthony is a studio mate of mine at RAID Studio, and a very good writer- heck he even does novels!
Here are some rough pages...

Chapterhouse Archives #3 Captain Canuck !
My next published work is going to be in Chapterhouse Archives #3 featuring Captain Canuck
Introducing Chapterhouse Archives, an ongoing monthly series that reprints all of the essentials in the Chapterhouse catalogue. All Archive issues feature an all new cover and five page back story by some of comicdoms brightest and best! “The Canadian Connection” sees the RCMP appear, the first appearance of Heather and Canuck injured. Story and art by Richard Comely and second professional comic art by George Freeman. Featuring cover art by Hugh Rockwood and an all-new 5 page back story (that takes place between Captain Canuck #3 and 4)
Yep, I'm doing the backup on this one and had a great time drawing my childhood hero. Its a thrill for me to be able to contribute to the 'director's cut' of these classic comics.
It's out in June, so look for it at your local comic shop!

2015 - Year End round up
Its that time again...stats for 2015 are:
3 comics published this year.
Undertow #5 , Frogman #3 and Looking for Group #6 (alternate cover)
1 Trade Paperback .
Frogman has been collected into a TPB, and issue #3 is in there.
3 new prints, and many commissions (my personal record!) done.
I joined my first studio environment ( RAID! ) and love it. I'm learning lots from the talented folks that I work with there....like how to REALLY use my Cintiq and work digitally.
In 2015 I also did a LOT of comic-cons. I don't post them here as they are too time sensitive.( I always mention them on my twitter and Facebook page.) It looks like I did 13 this year, including my first visit to New York Comic Con -that was the highlight for me for sure.
Looking back now, I realize I did WAY too many conventions. All the travel and the way it seems to interrupt my momentum with drawing pages was a real learning curve for me. As much as I love meeting the fans, I'm going to really scale back my convention appearances this year, probably doing 5 at the most.
My goal now is to be very consistent with flowing put new pages, and getting better connected with Marvel, DC and other mainstream American publishers to (hopefully!) have more comics in the comic shops and hopefully pick a few new fans here and there.
A big THANK YOU to all those who have helped and supported me this year...you all know who you are!!
Happy 2016 to all.

Captain Canuck Pin Up and Print - 'Double Double'
As a proud Canadian, I'm thrilled that CAPTAIN CANUCK has been loving updated and is relaunching with issue #1 this week.
Art for this issue is provided by RAID studio mate Kalman Andrasofszky , and looks gorgeous. I've been lucky too see this one come together behind the scenes and you'll want to pick it up if you love great comics!
The idea for this print came about at Calgary Expo, where is was discussed with the Canuck crew (over dinner and many drinks) that it might be a blast to base a pin-up on my most popular piece of art - but to 'Canadian-ize' it with the good Captain and of course, Tim Hortons.
The villains pictured are from an upcoming issue drawn by Scott Hepburn and I'm told that this will be a pin up in that comic. (issue #5 I believe) Hope you like the result!
**Note: this print will be available at the Niagara Falls Comic Con next weekend. I'll be in artist alley spot a-62 !
