Art Blast April - 8 Ball from Heroes of the North

8 ball has a cool costume, tons of weapons and holsters with pockets and bags, all of which are fun to draw. Once of many pages I've done for Heroes of the North comics and Trade paperbacks.

My pencils and inks on this one.

2014 - Year end round up!

I love doing these yearly round ups. It keeps me organized and gives me an idea on my over-all output in one easy place...the first blog post of every January. ;-)

In reflecting on 2014 and doing some fact checking on the pages I drew, here's what went down:

2 trade paperbacks...a first for me!
(Heroes of the North - Compendium and Legacies)

4 comics published this year.
( The Undertow #4, The Undertow Free Comic book day special, Professor Elemental #3 , and the Psychedelic Journal of Time Travel #3. )

2+1/2  pages of the Gutters.
( All can be found here, and the 'half' page that almost was is here )

1 art book - from the 2014 Calgary Expo Show

2 new prints, and 1 pin up in Monstrosity #2

Add to that my trip to Seattle's ECCC, and a  few Canadian Conventions and there you have it.

My goal now is to make 2015 my most prolific yet,  and I'm working on that as we speak. I've got many pages 'in the can' that I'll show and talk about closer to the dates when the books are set to come out. You can read about here or by following me on twitter.

A big THANK YOU to all those who have helped and supported me this year. There are too many important people to list individually, but you know who you are.

Happy 2015 to all.

Upcoming comic work...

I've been keeping busy working away on the new issue of Undertow - (number 5!), as well as pages for ANOTHER Heroes of the North trade paperback.  Both of these books will be released early next year.

Here's a sneak peek:

This is good time to remind you that back issues of Undertow are available for order from the main website - http://7thwavecomics.com/

Undertow covers #1-3 plus 2nd printing covers

Also, Heroes of the North have some nice new Trade paperbacks available from their website . They collect a number of pages that I've worked on with Guillermo Ortego. You can order one from them directly, or you can grab one from me by getting in touch ( twitter works great for that) , or see me at a con while supplies last!

Heroes of the North - Legacies

In early July, Heroes of the North - Legacies will be available. I'm not 100% such which stories will be in there, but I know there are a number of 'em I've drawn that are just waiting to be published. Here is the cover and description of the book, taken from the HON website. They are available from their site, or from me directly at conventions while supplies last.

Our 120 page trade paperback featuring never before seen stories that make the bridge between Season One and Two is coming out in June! Featuring stories by Yann & Michel Brouillette, Jean Marquis and Christian Viel, with art by a slew of Canadian talents including Andre St-Amour, Gibson Quarter, Zach Fischer, Geof Isherwood and many more! Cover by Patrick Hénaff with a foreword by Ty Templeton.

2013 - Year end round up

Holy smokes! Another YEAR has gone by?!?!  Yikes.

When it comes to published work in 2013, here's what went down. This is work I've put out into the big wide the world the last 12 months.
I saddled up with more 'Organ Grinder' adventures in UNDERTOW #3, got to draw up the chap-hop rapper himself in PROFESSOR ELEMENTAL #2 . I had some pages in MONSTROSITY #2 with Fearless Fred, and pinned-up Kill Shakespeare in the TIDE OF BLOOD trade paperback. I got my Canadian Super-heroes on with HEROES OF THE NORTH: CODA.
Lastly, work from way back in the day ( James Bong anyone?) was published in the spliffy GANJAMAN #3
I also got to drop down to the Gutters again , and still hung out (and posted more!) on twitter. ( @Gibsonquarter  )    I was international in my appearances this year, and attended Comic Cons in: Seattle, Calgary and Toronto.

There is no rest for my drawing board in 2014. Work is 'in the can' for more Heroes of the North  (with inks by Guillermo Ortego) and the soon-to-be-blogged-about release of Undertow issue #4.  Watch for details on that, and my ECC Convention appearance here soon.
Cheers and Happy new year to all!

Fan Expo 2013 - free Deadpool Print!

I'm happy to be in artist alley (4th year running!) at Fan Expo next week starting on Thursday.  Hours, dates  and details can be found on the Fan Expo Canada website right here.

***Update - I'm at spot P-41 in artist alley **

I'll have prints, including a new FREE (for a tweet!) 11x17 black and white Deadpool and Hit Monkey Print. Its an homage to those old Hostess Twinkie ads. This one in particular:

All you need to do is tweet this link and/or the image with #deadpool and make sure you put it @gibsonquarter so I'll see it. Then just pick it up from me at FanExpo! Easy, huh? I'm trying this little social media experiment out, so we'll see what happens! I have limited copies & once they are gone, it's over. So...if you want one, don't wait too long. ;-) One per person, and I'll gladly sign it when you pick it up.

I'll have a few other prints for sale at the table too.

I'll also have the following COMICS:

Undertow #1 (2nd printing)
Undertow #2
Undertow #3 (it's new!)

Monstrosity #1 (see post below)

Professor Elemental #2

I also have a VERY few copies of Heroes of the North Omnibus #2

I'm always happy to sign anything that I've done work in, so please stop by next week! I've not heard of my exact spot in artist alley yet, but I'll update it here also tweet it out once I know.

See you at Fan Expo!

Appearing at Calgary Expo April 26th, 27th and 28th , 2013

Calgary Expo is totally sold out, and it’s not even open for another week!! These cons are getting bigger and badder all the time.

I'll be attending the Calgary Expo again this year. I’ll be in artist alley at table P 12  - on April 26th, 27th and 28th 2013.
I  LOVE the Calgary show and have now gone for 3 years running. This year’s show will be extra special for me, as I’m finally getting a chance to reconnect with Alan Grant!  We plan to talk about more War on Drugs,  Johnny K. and maybe even something new. I’ve recently been forwarded two ‘lost’  W.O.D. scripts which I’ve yet to do art for,  so Johnny K.  may yet be resurrected...
For those that CAN get in, please stop by table P-12 and say “Hi”. I’m bring along all issues  (#1, #2, and the new #3)  of Undertow ,  sketch covers,  prints –including the New Deadpool one and issues of the Heroes of the North!
Now... off to get some more sketch covers ready for the show!

2012 -year end round up!

I'm a little late on this one... I'll be more timely and try for a Jan 1st post next year. ;-)

In reflecting on 2012 and doing some more fact checking, this is what went down. It should be noted that I don’t really suspect that this will be overwhelmingly interesting to most folks, but I do it mostly to help keep myself organized and on track. It’s interesting to me to see all that I’ve accomplished in 12 months by clicking on the first blog post every January!

So with out further ado… I had work in 3 comics and 1 comic magazine published this year. Specifically that’s Undertow #2,  One and Done, and Heroes of the North –Omnibus #2 , as well as contributing a cover and interior art to Futurequake.

I also got to drop down to the Gutters again , and still hung out (and posted more!) on twitter. ( @Gibsonquarter  )    I was international in my appearances this year, and attended Comic Cons in: New Orleans, Calgary, Toronto and Leeds in England.

As it stands now, I plan to keep just as busy this year! Work is under way for more Heroes of the North  (with inks by Guillermo Ortego) and the soon-to-be-blogged-about release of Undertow issue #3.  Watch for details on that, and my next American Convention appearance here soon.

Cheers!

Heroes of the North : CODA

A quick follow up to my last post…Thought Bubble was a great con, and a fantastic time! I was able to reconnect with many old friends and make a bunch of new ones - including Guillermo. Thought Bubble is highly recommended. Heck, Deadpool even got engaged there!

Next up, please keep an eye out for Heroes of the North : CODA now available for pre-order from Ardden Entertainment. I have 2 short stories in this one, both inked by Guillermo Ortego and colored by Keiren Smith. Pre-order details available at this link.

Here’s a little sneak peek:

At Calgary Expo this weekend!

I had a great time at C2E2 a few weeks back in Chicago, and now its almost time to say hello to the folks out in Calgary again. I did the Calgary Expo last year, and found it was one of the BEST shows I'd been to in a long time. Kandrix and his crew had some of the best organization I'd ever seen, along with some great crowds.

I'm psyched to do it again this weekend. The show is April 27th-29th. Full details over at the Calgary Expo website.  As a bonus... my pal Ty the guy is a featured guest so I'll get to hang with him and the HON crew! Should be a great time indeed. Plan to come by if you are in Calgary this weekend!

Edit! - forgot to add, I'm at booth K 07 !!

Heroes of the North Comic

Next up for me is a comic for Heroes of the North, which ties into the videos and web series that they have. I highly recommend you check them out over here!

I've drawn a story with the hero 8-Ball and Black Terror. The comic will be online shortly (free!) and then available in a print version. The print version will be released in a few months once its collected into the next heroes of the North Omnibus.

In the meanwhile, here's some art to tide you over..the second page is inked up by my partner in crime Guillermo Ortego who inked up the last few pages of the story. Deviant art will allow for  closer look.

Once it goes online I'll be sure to mention it here, and on my twitter feed.

Cheers!
